Sixteen Bay Area houses drawn from life
After living in thirteen cities over thirty-one years, I've developed a keen appreciation for architectural variety and a complex relationship with the concept of home and housing.
Shortly after arriving in my latest home on the Oakland/Berkeley border, I challenged myself to make a drawing of a house each day, no matter whether I felt inclined to do so or not. The resulting series I call Bay House-A-Day .
I've been selected as May artist of the month at the Berkeley interior bazaar Ohmega Salvage. Their antique furniture and authentic hardware dovetail perfectly with my ink drawings to pay homage to Bay Area houses- both traditional form elements and the quirk and ingenuity added by those making their home within.
